What is conservation of mass?
A
The principle that the total mass of the products of a reaction is the same as the total mass of the reactants

Examples of this with Mr values
A
Silver nitrate solution and Sodium chloride solution:
AgNO3 + NaCl = AgCl + NaNO3
170 + 58.5 = 143.5 + 85
Copper carbonate:
CuCO3 = CuO + CO2
123.5 = 79.5 + 44

Why is mass conserved?
A
Because no atoms are created or destroyed in chemical reactions
