gilgamesh was a strong, but cruel king. anu, the sky god, sent down enkidu, a half-man half-animal. at first gilgamesh and enkidu fought, but then they became friends. later, gilgamesh wanted to find the secret of eternal life. he tried to stay awake for a whole week, but that didn’t work, so then he tried to pick a magic plant from the bottom of the sea…but a snake ate it. gilgamesh grew old and died like everyone else.
