why was the fertile crescent a good place to live?
there was water, good soil, and plenty of grass and plants
why was it called “fertile”?
because lots of plants grew there
what was it shaped like?
a crescent (or, a moon)
what did the first farmers grow?
wheat and barley

no, because they had to stay in one place long enough to tend their crops, water them and harvest them
how did farmers water their crops?
they dug canals from the river and built shadufs
did the farmers still hunt wild animals?
no, they kept their own tame animals
what did the farmers build their houses out of?
mud bricks and reeds
how did they protect their villages?
they built stone walls around them
