7th; The 5 Spheres of the Earth Flashcards
Earth Sphere
One part of the Earth that helps our planet run smoothly.
Biosphere
The sphere of the Earth that includes all life. This includes plants, animals, and more.
Hydrosphere
The sphere of the Earth that includes all water. This means oceans, bays, rivers, streams, ponds, lakes, and more. The two different types of water are freshwater and saltwater.
Cryosphere
The cryosphere is the part of Earth with all frozen water. Ice, snow, permafrost, glaciers, icebergs, and more are included in this sphere.
Atmosphere
All of Earth’s air. Contains 5 layers (troposphere, stratosphere, mesosphere, thermosphere and exosphere); mesosphere contains the Ozone Layer, which protects us from the sun
Geosphere
Earth itself; contains mountains, soil and dirt, and more
Do these spheres interact with each other, and if they do, how?
Earth’s spheres do interact with each other. The hydrosphere gives clean water to the biosphere, the hydrosphere evaporates into the atmosphere, and the hydrosphere and cryosphere melt and freeze into each other.
