What is a genotype?
Combination of particular alleles of a gene(s) that are present that determines an organism’s characteristics (phenotype)
What is a phenotype?
An observable characteristic of an organism that is the product of genetic and environmental factors
What are autosomal genes?
Have two copies of each gene located on an autosome
What is homozygous?
A genotype at a particular gene with of two identical alleles; AA or aa
What is heterozygous?
A genotype at a particular gene with two different alleles; Aa
What is hemizygous?
The genotype with respect to any gene carried on either X or Y chromosome, which comprises just a single allele for each gene
What is codominant
both alleles fully expressed
what is incompletely dominant
both alleles are expressed together; mixed
what is sex linked
the allele is on the x chromosome
