the study of the way words are used to make sentences.

subject
the part of a sentence or clause that commonly indicates (a) what it is about, or (b) who or what performs the action (that is, the agent).
present tense
used to describe things that are happening right now, or things that are continuous
past tense
grammatical tense whose function is to place an action or situation in the past
future tense
describes things that have yet to happen (e.g., later, tomorrow, next week, next year, three years from now)
pronouns
a word used in place of a noun
3 kinds: personal / possessive / demonstrative
noun
a word [other than a pronoun] used to identify any person, place, or thing
object
the thing/person that the action is being done to
it answers the questions what or whom about the verb
substitute for noun
pronoun is a short word that replaces or substitutes for a noun
possessive pronoun
This kind of pronoun indicates ownership of the object or subject it precedes.
your, its, whose, and theirs
example of pronouns used as a subject
I, he, she, it, you, we, or they.
Example: She decided to go to the store.
example of pronouns used as an object
me, him, her, it, you, us, or them.
Example: Give the book to her.
When speaking of ______ and someone else together, always speak of yourself last.

Example: Jim and I decided to rollerblade through the park.
