7.2(b) Breathing Cycle ( Intan ) Flashcards
What is Tidal Volume?
Tidal Volume is the amount of air which enters the lungs during normal inhibition at rest.
What is Inspiratory Capacity?
The greatest volume of air that can be inhaled into the lungs.
What is the Inspiratory Reserve Volume?
The additional amount of air that can be inhaled into the lungs after normal inhalation.
IC=TV+IRV
What is Expiratory Capacity?
The greatest volume of air that can be exhaled out of the lungs.
What is the Expiratory Reserve Volume?
The additional amount of air that can be exhaled out of the lungs after normal exhalation.
EC=TV+ERV
What is Vital Capacity?
Maximum amount of air that can be expelled from the lungs after a maximum inhalation.
VC=IC+ERV
VC=EC+IRV
VC=IRV+TV+ERV
What is Total Lung Capacity?
The volume of air contained in the lungs at the end of maximal inspiration.
What is Residual Volume?
The volume of air still remaining in the lungs after the maximal expiration.
RV=TLC-VC
