1
Q

When do reactions occur?

A
When molecules collide and overcome activation energy barrier
When HOMO (nucleophile) overlaps with LUMO (electrophile)

2
Q

Two key components for a reaction to occur?

A

Electrons move from HOMO into LUMO so needs to be an energy match
Molecules need to be drawn together by electrostatic forces (charges or dipoles draw to each other)
