A
Acute SOB Pleuritic chest pain Haemoptysis Dizziness Syncope Small emboli may be asymptomatic

What signs may the patient have on examination?
A
Pyrexia Cyanosis Tachypnoea, tachycardia, hypotension Raised JVP Pleural rub, pleural effusion DVT signs

How would you investigate?
A
FBC, U+E, baseline clotting D-dimers (low specificity) ABG CXR ECG CT pulmonary angiography

What treatments are there?
A
O2 if hypoxic Morphine + anti-emetic if severe pain LMWH / fondaparinux IV fluids if low bp Consider thrombolysis if harm-dynamically unstable Long-term anticoagulation
