The Brain
One of the most important organs in the body
The brain Is in the head protected by the skull
It is like a powerful computer which controls everything we do, from our thoughts, movement and breathing.
The brain is in the centre of our nervous system
It has billions of nerve cells which send information all around our body
The heart
One of the most important organs in the body
It is in the chest and is protected by the rib cage
It’s main job its to pump blood to every part of the body
The blood carries oxygen and all the food, vitamins and minerals that your body needs to move, think grow and repair itself
At the same time your blood picks up stuff that your body doesn’t need and takes it to the parts of your body that get rid of waste e.g. your lungs, kidney and liver
Your blood is pumped all around your body and gets back to your heart in about a minute
The lungs
The lungs are found in the chest and are protected by the rib cage
The main job of the lungs is to carry oxygen from the air we breath into the bloodstream
When we breathe out we get rid of the carbon dioxide inside the body
When resting we breath about 12-20 times a minute
