hairpinning
A problem that occurs when a call is transferred or forwarded from one IP phone to another that keeps the audio path established (or hairpinned) through the original IP phone; this tends to cause QoS issues with the call.
call park
A Cisco Unified CME feature that allows you to park a call on hold on them
call pickup
A Cisco Unified CME feature that allows you to answer another ringing phone in the network.
directed pickup
A method used with call pickup to answer a phone directly by dialing the extension number of the ringing phone.
local group pickup
A method used with call pickup to answer a ringing phone from within the local group of an IT phone
other group pickup
A method used with call pickup to answer a ringing phone from another group number, which must be specified after pressing the GPickUp
Single Number Reach
A feature part of Cisco Unified Mobility that allows users to have incoming calls ring another, pre-configured number, also know as CIsco Mobile Connect
Done through RDP (Remote Destination Profile) which is a list of all the other phones that need to ring when a call comes in. So its like a shared line with the original extension ringing and everything else in the RDP
Extension Mobility
A feature that allows a user to log into any IP phone and have their personal extension numbers, speed dials, services, calling privileges, etc. applied to the phone. This feature is ideal in an environment where users move to different work locations within an organization.
Night Service
A CME feature that designates certain phones to ring when and “after-hours” schedule is in effect – typically, when the receptionist or other staff are not available (the feature can be activated manually).
hunt groups
A CME feature; a hunt group allows a call to a specific number to be directed to a defined set of ephone-dns in the desired sequence.
