The menstrual cycle consists of 2: OVARIAN and UTERINE CYCLES.The average cycle is 28 days long.

Ovarian cycle
A
During the ovarian cycle, an ovum matures and is released into the fallopian tube. This realease is called ovulation.

Uterine cycle
A
During the uterine cycle, the endometrium thickens for possible pregnancy. If pregancy doesnt happen, the endometrium sheds and is eliminated during menstruation.
