What colour is steel corrosion?
Red
What colour is aluminium corrosion?
White-grey
What colour is magnesium corrosion?
Grey
What is filiform corrosion?
Worm-like corrosion
What is stress corrosion?
Intergranular cracking of metal caused by stress.
what is galvanic corrosion?
Dissimilar metals
1 - 17 on a scale
What is pitting corrosion?
White powder appearance.
What is intergranular corrosion?
Corrosion along the grain boundaries, no indication on the surface.
What is exfoliation corrosion?
Advanced form of intergranular corrosion, surface is forced up by underlying corrosion.
What is fretting corrosion?
Rubbing/vibration of two highly loaded surfaces that aren’t meant to be touching.
What is microbial corrosion?
Corrosion caused by bacteria/fungi/mould
What is crevice corrosion?
In a metal to metal joint, forms at the edge of the joint
