Control which genes are expressed at different times
(not all genes are expressed in every cell at the same time)

What are the 3 main types of regulatory mechanism?
A
- Transcriptional level (eg. Lac Operon)
- Post-Transcriptional level
- Post Translational level

What is the relationship between structural and regulatory genes?
A
Structural genes code for proteins that have a function within a cell, and regulatory genes code for proteins which control the expression of these structural genes.
