6 UN SDG Flashcards
What does UN SDG stand for?
United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
What is SDG?
UN’s 17 goals are an urgent call for action by all countries in global partnership, to end poverty, protect the planet and people live in peace and prosperity
Why is context important in SDG’s?
Some things might not fulfill the SDG’s by themselves, but require other parameters to be met★.
★e.g. those are listed at the UN site
Why are SDG’s complex?
They are complex matter due to the high level of interaction between the different SDGS and high level of uncertainties, which limits our ability to balance benefits with re-bound effects.
What should you always do when using SDG?
Specify the relation to target/indicators
How do you prioritize SDGs?
Shall always be used together. But for each project you will need to prioritize it.
For example, you can build a pyramid: the top are the most relevant for your project, the lower level are the least relevant but still you have to include it.
How should you not use SDG?
As a label or a sticker
What is it called when SDG’s are positively interlinked
Co-benefits
One positive SDG might affect another positively
What is it called when SDG’s are negatively interlinked
Re-bound effects
An action to affect one SDG positively might affect another negatively.
Re-bound effects can also limit the benefit of a specific action
Example:Electric scooter replacing cars is positive, while replacing bikes is negative (CONTEXT!)
Context is important
What should you avoid?
Green washing
What are the limits of efficiency?
If a path leads to falling and we stall it making us have more time, will not inevitable make us stop falling.
For not falling we need to change paths
What is soft factors?
