Choosing an intention and planning different ideas such as images, information about techniques, steps or actions, feelings or though, music or sound connected to the original idea. There is no limit to the type of information a choreographer might choose to relate to the intention.

Improvisation, selection, arrangement, refinement, evaluation (ISARE)
What is involved in the rehearsal practices of realising a dance work?
The practices of improving existing movement material, through repetition, feedback and skill development to consolidate, refine and evaluate the execution of the choreography. It also involves movement memory.
What is involved in the pre-performance practices of realising a dance?
This involves activities undertaken just prior or approximately 1 hour before the final performance.
What is involved in the performance practices of realising a dance?
The execution of the dance to an audience.
