- Reduce
- Reuse
- Recycle

Why should we recycle?
A
- It saves natural resources
- Reduces the need for landfill
- Preserves the land
- Limits global warming as the rubbish will not decay and produce methane (CH4), a greenhouse gas

What are the three types of recycling?
A
- Primary
- Secondary
- Tertiary

What is primary recycling?
A
Taking a product and using it again for the same purpose (e.g. Refilling a water bottle)

What is secondary recycling?
A
Using a product for a different purpose without breaking it down into its components

What is tertiary recycling?
A
Breaking a product down into its components, and making a new product from this

Give an example of how we can ‘refuse’:
A
Not using plastic bags

Give an example of how the government or local authorities can increase the amount of recycling:
A
Adding a charge to plastic bags so that people are less likely to buy them, as this encourages the use of bags for life
