three ways of optimizing the task/process flow os a company
LONG THIN : division of work is a series of workers
CICLE TIME = the slowes determine the cicle
RATE DS = the slowest slows down the process
IDLE TIME = the faster ones must wait the slowest
SERIES AND PARRALEL : division of work among more and smaller series of workers
CYCLE TIME: slower but i have two of them
more skilled workers
problem = dupplication of investment
more flexible way (stop half)
SHORT AND FAT : every workers does all the work
i need 4 skilled workers and 4 investment

IDLE TIME = the time the workers needs to wait cause the previus or nexts step is slower
each time there is an internal storage between stages = bottlenek
CICLE TIME = how much time pass between the exit of two product
TROUGHPUT TIME = the time from the start to the end of the process (> than the cicle time)

variability in idle time
idle time is affected by variability
u can not just study one product to asset it, must be an group of mesurements at different time, workers, day, product
whitout standardization the timing of each stage is variable
relation between process utilization and number of item waiting
beacouse of variability if i want to offer a little wating time i have to suffer of low utilization
if i want high utilization i must have longer wating time
i should try to lower the variability of the process = standardize it = losing some customability
