what is rheumatic fever? relation to heart?
an inflammatory disease that occurs following a Streptococcus pyogenes infection. The M protein of these Strep. Pyogenes uses molecular mimicry, causing the immune system to generate an autoimmune response. The immune response causes fibrosis of the mitral valve.
what symtoms would be expected in CCF?
SOB, orthopnea, peripheral oedema
