Work order
A written instructions to a service man detailing
work to be carried out.
Maintenance programme identify the task to be
undertaken, the **component **to be worked on and
brief details of the work.
Completion of each job, details of the work done,
labour time, material used, result of inspections,
and comments are reported.

Typical tasks includes inspection, lubrication, adjustment and routine replacement of wearing parts.
Based on manufacturer’s technical data and operating manuals or operating experience.

equipment gets older and rate of wear increases

Stock Control
To monitor the stock onboard.
Correct spares available at the right time.
Material can account for a large proportion of the maintenance budget, adequate control is essential to ensure that only needed spares or equipment are purchased.
Objective of control – to balance the holding costs against the implications of non-availability of spares.
Allow items to be located quickly.
Provide adequate cross-referencing for common use items such as bearings, seals and belts.
