Maintenance schedule

A

Includes name, location, code number, brief description of each task

Typical tasks includes inspection, lubrication, adjustment and routine replacement of wearing parts.

Based on manufacturer’s technical data and operating manuals or operating experience.

Detail and frequencies of maintenance to be reviewed as the
equipment gets older and rate of wear increases

Stock Control

A

To monitor the stock onboard.

Correct spares available at the right time.

Material can account for a large proportion of the maintenance budget, adequate control is essential to ensure that only needed spares or equipment are purchased.

Objective of control – to balance the holding costs against the implications of non-availability of spares.

Allow items to be located quickly.

Provide adequate cross-referencing for common use items such as bearings, seals and belts.
