Q

What is immunoaffinity chromatography (IAC)?

A

Immunoaffinity chromatography (IAC) is a highly selective purification technique with high affinity based upon antigen–antibody recognition, which enables “all-in-one” extraction, purification, and enrichment of target compound, providing high sensitivity in the final determinations using physical methods such as MS

Q

What is affinity chromatography?

A

Affinity chromatography is a method of separating biochemical mixture based on a highly specific interaction between antigen and antibody, enzyme and substrate, receptor and ligand, or protein and nucleic acid.

Q

What is Post-column derivatization (PCD)?

A

Post-column derivatization, also known as post-column reaction, renders visible certain compounds that are normally invisible. This trick is accomplished after the separation by performing a chemical reaction on the substances that gives them an easily-detectable physical property.

Q

What is Solid phase extraction (SPE)?

A

SPE is an extractive technique by which compounds that are dissolved or suspended in a liquid mixture are separated from other compounds in the mixture according to their physical and chemical properties.

SPE uses the affinity of solutes dissolved or suspended in a liquid (known as the mobile phase) for a solid through which the sample is passed (known as the stationary phase) to separate a mixture into desired and undesired components

Q

What is Reverse Phase SPE?

A

Reversed phase SPE separates analytes based on their polarity. The stationary phase of a reversed phase SPE cartridge is derivatized with hydrocarbon chains, which retain compounds of mid to low polarity due to the hydrophobic effect. The analyte can be eluted by washing the cartridge with a non-polar solvent, which disrupts the interaction of the analyte and the stationary phase
