What is a Material Safety Data Sheet?
A
A document used to describe completely all aspects of a chemical. It describes the material’s physical properties or fast-acting health effects that may make it dangerous to handle. It also provides guidance on PPE and first aid treatment in the event of accidental exposure.

What are 3 conditions under which a material considered hazardous?
A
- Compound is specifically listed in the law, 29 CFR Part 1910, Subpart Z, Toxic and Hazardous Substances
- Compound has been assigned a Threshold Limit Value (TLV) by American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH)
- Compound has been determined to be carcinogenic, corrosive, toxic, irritant, a sensitizer or has damaging effects on specific bodily organs
