6/28 Chem/Phys Flashcards
Homotropic regulation
Molecule is a substrate for its target enzyme and a regulatory molecule for the enzyme
Ex. O2 for Hb
Is NaOH a strong or weak base?
Strong
Is acetic acid a strong or weak acid?
Weak
Positive control
Control group not exposed to experimental trt, but exposed to some other treatment known to produce expected effect
Negative control
Control group not exposed to the experimental treatment or to any other treatment expected to have an effect
What is the equation for power?
Work/Time (Watts)
Equation for energy of EM wave
E=hf/wavelength
h: Planck’s constant, f: frequency
Centripetal Force Equation?
Fc=mv^2/r
Equation of circular velocity?
V=2pi*r/T
Suicide inhibition
Enzyme binds to the inhibitor (substrate analog) and forms an irreversible complex with it (normally through covalent bond)
Equation for Mechanical Advantage
MA=(force output)/(force input)=(distance output)/(distance input)
Is elemental nitrogen an acid or base?
Neither, the elemental nitrogen in the air is inert
What are lacteals?
Structures in the intestines associated with absorbing fat into the lymphatic system
