Q

Where is location of the heating element on windows 1 & 2?

What about windows 3 (4 & 5) if installed?

A

1 & 2: conductive coating on the OUTER glass pane permits electrical heating (prevent ice and fogging)

3-5: conductive coating on the INNER pane

13
Q

What happens to the stall warning logic with AI selected?

A

it adjusts stick shaker and min maneuver speed bars on the airspeed indicator

FMC displayed VREF is NOT adjusted automatically

* everything returns to normal when ENG AI positioned back to OFF as long as WING AI was not used.

16
Q

What does the AMBER Cowl ANTI-ICE light mean when illuminated?

A

it illuminates due to excessive PRESSURE in the duct from the valve to the lip

17
Q

What does the WING AI protect?

A

protects the 3 INBOARD leading edge SLATS using bleed air.

18
Q

What does the WING AI NOT protect?

A

It does not protect the outboard LE slat or LE flaps.

19
Q

What powers the WING AI control valves?

A

AC motor operated.

20
Q

Can the WING AI be used in any flap/slat position?

A

Yes.

21
Q

How does the WING AI system work on the ground?

A

with switch ON - it OPENS BOTH control valves

(if thrust is below takeoff warning activation setting AND temp in AI ducts is

* if EITHER engine thrust is set above TO warning or EITHER temp sensor senses duct overtemp - then BOTH valves CLOSE.

  • the valves AUTOMATICALLY reopen if temps and thrust setting are good -
  • the WING AI SWITCH stays in the ON position as long as you are on the ground, it will TRIP OFF at lift off (Air / Grd switch) -
22
Q

What happens when you select WING AI in FLIGHT?

A

Opens BOTH control valves

sets stall warning logic for icing conditions

* adjusts stick shake and min maneuver speed bars - FMC displayed VREF is NOT automatically adjusted for ICE

** stall warning logic remains set for icing conditions for the remainder of the FLIGHT regardless of AI switch position.

23
Q

Does throttle position and duct temp impact the WING AI operations during flight?

A

No - only on the ground.
