What was the EEC?

The Suez Crisis
-britain held shares in the suez canal
-Colonel Nasser nationalised canal july 1956, angered UK
-Eden met French + Israeli leaders and made plot
-Israelis would invade Egypt, Britain would intervene and retake canal

-US disagreed with actions so UK pulled out
-questioned Britains ability to act without the US
