What are specifiers? Examples of specifiers?

A

words that are added to the diagnosis that describe the SEVERITY and/or CHRONICITY of the disorder:

  • mild, moderate, severe, extreme
  • whether or not pt has insight into the problem
    • or - delusions or hallucinations
  • episodic, persistant, or recurrent
