Purpose of the NWL
- Compilation of doctrinal, tactical and reference publications needed by the Navy Warfighter. Defines the organization and procedures governing Navy warfare publications, tactics, techniques, and procedures, etc
What are the three levels of warfare
- Strategic
- National policy, theater strategy
- Operational
- Campaigns, major operations
- Tactical
- Small unit/crew, battles, engagements
Role of the OTC (Officer in Tactical Command)
- The senior officer with command authority over all forces within a maritime OA.
- Responsible for formulating and promulgating the command structure
- Other OTC command may be assigned to subordinates within the constraints of established ROE
Role of the CWC (Composite Warfare Commander)
- Officer to whom the OTC has assigned all of his authority and assigned functions for the overall direction and control of the force. The OTC retains the power to negate any particular action by the CWC.
Role of the Warfare Commander
- Responsible for collecting and disseminating information and, in certain situations, are assigned authority to respond to threats with assigned assets
- Subordinate to the CWC
