What is web 1.0 technology?
‘Read-only’ web that is primarily used to publish information. There is little interaction between the website and the user, except through ‘Contact Us’.
What is web 2.0 technology?
Allows users to participate and interact, e.g. social media or blogs.
What is an RSS feed?
A feed that allows you to view posts from multiple websites.
What are the advantages of using a website to advertise your company?
- Quicker & cheaper than printing brochures
- Larger market
- Up-to-date
- Videos, pictures etc. can be used to encourage customers
- Quicker to book
- Service is available 24/7
- Can be viewed anywhere
- Customers can update and manage bookings & personal info
What is Responsive Website Design?
Allows a website to be viewed on multiple devices, e.g. laptop, phone & tablet
What is microblogging?
A form of blogging with very short posts, e.g. Twitter

What is Pay-per-click?
A form of sponsored online advertising where the advertiser pays the company for how many web users click on the advert. The advertiser makes a bid on the keywords they think their target audience will search.
What are the advantages & disadvantages of PPC?
+ Cost effective, only pay if user reaches your website
+ Keywords can be chosen
- Costs are difficult to estimate
- Visits don’t always = bookings so profits are had to estimate
What are the advantages & disadvantages of banner advertisements?
+ Grabs the user’s attention
+ Target advertising based on the user’s interest
- Many users ignore adverts or use blocking tools to avoid seeing them

OCER can target customers based on their stored info from their social media accounts. E.g.
