Occurs twice as often in those with fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue / back pain, TMJ dysfunction

What causes it?

A

Exact cause is unknown
Strong intestinal contractions cause gas, bloating, diarrhoea
Abnormal discomfort from normal process (nerves)
Inflammation
Can develop after gastroenteritis
Changes in microbiome
