What does UCD stand for
User Centered Design
What is UCD
User-centered design (UCD) is an iterative design process in which designers focus on the users and their needs in each phase of the design process. In UCD, design teams involve users throughout the design process via a variety of research and design techniques, to create highly usable and accessible products for them.
What is anthropometrics
Anthropometry involves the systematic measurement of the physical properties of the human body, primarily dimensional descriptors of body size and shape.
What is ergonomics
The study of people’s efficiency in there environment
What does the term form mean
Also considered as the three-dimensional space that a product takes up, in the context of classic design, form relates to the shape of a product and the aesthetic qualities that the shape gives
What does the term function mean
Products can be considered classic designs based on how well they fulfill the task that they have been designed for
What is practical function
Practical function is mostly concerned with criteria related to the performance of the product, such as dimensions, weight, ease of use, etc.
What is psychological function
Psychological function is mostly concerned with the different emotional reactions or attachments people have with products such as mobile phones or their favorite piece of apparel.
What is the philosophy of Art and Crafts
Art and crafts was created to combat the rise in popularity of modern, machine manufactured designs. The hand crafted element of there items, with showing joints and not completely level surfaces gives the product a feeling of value and worth as someone has made it by hand, showing the owner wants to be themselves and not conform to mass manufacture making every house look similar

What is the philosophy of Post-Modernism
After they thought modernism had failed, post-modernism was started on the 16th March 1972. They believed that, modernism lead to a repetitive and boring lifestyle as it was all the same. This lead to the creation of unique items to express character in the owner and show there difference to others. This lead to an extreme case of form over function, where, in some cases, function was not considered at all and the design was purely for aesthetic appeal
