What is an aneurysm?

A balloon like swelling of the artery.

How do aneurysms start?
A
With atheroma formation.

How does atheroma plaque damage arteries?
A
By weakening it, narrowing it and increasing blood pressure.
Causing blood to push inner layers of artery through outer elastic layer forming an aneurysm.

What may happen to the aneurysm?
A
May burnt leading to haemorrhage - bleeding.
