What is salmonella?
A
- type of bacteria that causes food poisoning

How is salmonella spread?
A
- eating food that’s been contaminated with the bacteria
- e.g. eating chicken that cause the disease whilst it was alive
- e.g. eating food that has been contaminated by being prepared unhygienically

What are the symptoms of salmonella?

- fever
- stomach cramps
- vomiting
- diarrhoea

How do you prevent salmonella?
A
- most poultry is given a vaccination to control the spread

What is gonorrhoea?
A
- sexually transmitted disease (STD)
- caused by bacteria

How are STDs spread?
A
- sexual contact
- e.g. having unprotected sex

What are the symptoms of gonorrhoea?

- pain when urinating
- thick yellow or green discharge from vagina or penis

- some strains have become resistant
