A
- Index compiled with UN that measures a country’s economic development

A
Made up of equally weighted indices:
* Education (mean years of schooling)
* Health (life expectancy at birth)
* Living standards (GNI per capita at PPP)

A
- Doesn’t consider inequality or poverty
- Health and education indices do not measure quality

A
- The HDI adjusted for inequalities (health, education, income)

What does it mean if the IHDI value is equal to the HDI value?

- ZERO inequality

- Falls below as inequality rises

Multi-dimensional Poverty Index?
A
- Uses health, education and standard of living to determine degree of poverty experienced by a population
Considers both portion of population that is deemed poor and ‘breadth’ of poverty experienced by the ‘poor’ households
