4.3 ATP: An important source of energy for Cellular Processes Flashcards
1
Q
ATP stands for
A
adenosine triphosphate
2
Q
ATP structure
A
an organic molecule, adenosine attached to a string of 3 phosphate groups

3
Q
how does ATP work
A
one phosphate from the 3 can split off when reacted to water to form an Pi (HOPO3^2-)
and the ATP becomes adenosine diphosphate (ADP)
this reaction releases energy that can be used in the cell
