1925 - made drunk driving an offence
1967 - road safety act, introduced blood alcohol limit

1991 - if there is death while driving under influence there is a prison sentence of 5 years
what is the race relations act
1965 - banned racial discrimination in public places, hate crime became an offence
1968- outlawed discrimination in areas of employment, housing and public service
this act was replaced in 2010 by the equality act
cultural changes and LGBTQAI+ rights
1994 changed age age of consent to 18, then in 2000 changed to equal heterosexual sex 16
civil partnerships
for same sex couples it was made in 2005 it gave legal recognition and protection.
2019 - civil partnerships were also made for heterosexual couples as an alternative to marriage.
Same sex marriage
previously, marriage was defined as being between a man and a woman. This changed in england and wales in 2003 with the marriage act
