Overtemperature/Fire in Main Engine Compartment

A

COMPT OVERTEMP display only indication:

  1. Turn on engine compartment auxiliary cooling fan.
  2. If display goes out in ten (10) seconds, proceed on assignment.
  3. If COMP OVERTEMP frame remains on after ten (10) seconds, reduce N1 on affected engine; increase N2 and prop pitch on unaffected side.
  4. If display goes out in ten (10) seconds, proceed on assignment.
  5. If display remains on after ten (10) seconds, reduce N2 and prop pitch on affected side, secure affected engine.
  6. If COMP OVERTEMP frame remains on after ten (10) seconds, stop craft, go hullborne, and investigate.
  7. Proceed to compartment FIRE if fire is present.

COMPARTMENT FIRE

  1. Discharge primary (A) Halon bottle.
  2. Acknowledge alarm.
  3. If the fire light goes OUT and mission requirements allow, man firefighting team in accordance with GENERAL CRAFT FIRE PROCEDURES (paragraph 3-2.5.).
  4. If fire light remains ON for 18 seconds, discharge (B) bottle.
  5. If fire light goes OUT, man firefighting team in accordance with GENERAL CRAFT FIRE PROCEDURES (paragraph 3-2.5.).
  6. If fire light still remains ON, shut down adjacent engine and/or APU.
    - Shut down fuel supply to affected components by use of manual firewall shutoff valve.
  7. Man firefighting team in accordance with GENERAL CRAFT FIRE PROCEDURES (Paragraph 3-2.5.).

Overtemperature/Fire in APU Compartment

A

COMPT OVERTEMP display only indication:

  1. Stop craft, go hullborne, secure affected generator and shut down affected APU.
  2. Conduct investigation for fire from outside of compartment.
  3. Proceed to FIRE if fire is present.

COMPARTMENT FIRE

  1. Discharge primary (A) Halon bottle.
  2. Acknowledge alarm.
  3. If fire light goes out and mission requirements allow, man firefighting team in accordance with GENERAL CRAFT FIRE PROCEDURES (paragraph 3-2.5.).
  4. If fire light remains ON for 45 seconds, discharge (B) bottle.
  5. If fire light goes out, man firefighting team in accordance with GENERAL CRAFT FIRE PROCEDURES (paragraph 3-2.5.).
  6. If fire light still remains ON, shut down adjacent engine and/or APU.
    - Shutdown fuel supply to affected components by use of manual firewall shutoff valve.
  7. Man firefighting team in accordance with GENERAL CRAFT FIRE PROCEDURES (paragraph 3-2.5.).

Fire in Fuel Bays

A
  1. Discharge primary (A) Halon bottle.
  2. Acknowledge alarm.
  3. Shut down fuel transfer system.
  4. Shut down affected main engines and APU.
  5. Shut down fuel pump(s) for affected fuel bay.
  6. If fire light goes OUT and mission requirements allow, man firefighting team in accordance with GENERAL CRAFT FIRE PROCEDURES (paragraph 3-2.5.).
  7. If fire light remains ON for 15 seconds, discharge (B) bottle, stop craft, go hullborne.
  8. Shut down remaining main engines and APU.
  9. Shut down remaining fuel system.
  10. Man firefighting team in accordance with GENERAL CRAFT FIRE PROCEDURES (paragraph 3-2.5.).

Stack Fire in Main Engine/APU

A

Engine Starts:
Engine will blow excess fuel out of the stack and blow the fire out.

Engine Fails to Start:
When N1 is zero, purge engine until fire is out.

  1. Secure affected fuel system.

2. When N1/APU rpm is zero, purge engine until fire is out.
