4 Design Principals Flashcards
What are the 4 design principals
Proximity, Alignment, Repetition, Contrast
What are the elements of design
type, color, size, line thickness, shape, space, texture, relationship, etc.
Proximity
Group related items together to create a single visual unit instead of multiple separate units. This simplifies information organization and reduces clutter.
Alignment
Avoid placing elements on the page randomly. Instead, ensure that each element has a visual connection with another element on the page. This creates a clean and fresh appearance.
Repitition
Repeating visual elements means repeating some of the elements listed above. This helps
develop the organization and strengthen the unity.
Contrast
The idea behind contrast is to avoid elements on the page that are merely similar. If the elements
are not the same, then make them very different. Contrast is often the most important visual
attraction on a page.
Goal of Proximity
The basic goal of proximity is to organize (organized white space)
Alignment
The main goal of alignment is to unify and organize the page (strong unity)
Goal of Repetition
The goal of repetition is to unify and to add visual interest.
