Q

What is the original palodent system?

A

Three different choices of concave-convex bands , to
be held in place by one of the ring clamps

3
Q

When is palodent most useful?

A

with small composite preparations like this one than with amalgam
- Select a band of the appropriate size, and slip it between the teeth far enough apically to close the gingival margin

6
Q

What does clamping the palodent cause?

A

slight separation of the teeth, and assist in getting a better contact on the restoration

Q

What is the palodent plus system?

A

Another SECTIONAL MATRIX system, Palodent Plus
has four choices of band and two choices of ring
clamp

Q

What does the palodent plus system provide a set of?

A

pinned pliers that engage holes in the band, for use in manipulating the band, both at placement time and when removing it

Q

When is a wedge placed in palodent plus?

A

Before the ring clamp is seated
Note the triangular notches in the plastic tines of the ring, and how they fit down over the wedge in place

14
Q

What are limitations to the automatrix system?

A
  1. Must be held in place by your non- dominant hand when there are no undercuts on the side walls of the tooth (as when tooth has been prepared for a
    crown).
  2. Doesn’t work well when tooth defects go far apically

16
Q

What are initial (incipient) caries?

A
  • Mild fluorosis
  • White and brown spot lesions (Following ortho treatment)
  • Class II
17
Q

Where can resin infiltration penetrate into?

A

Outer third of dentin (D1)
“micro invasive”

18
Q

Describe resin infiltration on a class II

A
19
Q

Describe the steps of resin infiltration on a class II

A

1 - tooth separation
- with a wedge
- make room in interproximal area for icon applicator
2 - get access to the lesion surface
- icon etch is a 15% hydrochloric gel
- etch takes 120 sec, then rinse
3 - dry in and out
- icon dry is a solution of ethanol
- apply for 30 sec then air dry

20
Q

What is the occlusal surface shaped with when finishing?

A

round or oval carbide finishing bur or similarly shaped finishing diamond

21
Q

When is polishing accomplished?

A

with appropriate polishing cups, points, or both after the occlusion is adjusted as
necessary

22
Q

What instruments should you use to smooth prior to light curing?

A

Plastic instruments
- To place and smooth composite on
occlusal surface
Optrasculpt
- To develop anatomy in composite resin prior
to light curing

23
Q

What is the hollenback carver used for?

A

Anatomy
Amalgam

24
Q

What do polishing points, cups, and discs do?

A

Enhance Polishing
* Impregnated with polishing paste
