- Adjust Knobs
An adjustable part used for collecting and reflecting light
Mirror
Concentrates the reflected light from the mirror to the object being examined
Condenser
It is used to regulate the intensity of light that enters the condenser
Iris Diaphragm
A detachable short cylinder located on top of the draw tube, points specific parts of the specimen
Eyepiece/Ocular
Two of these lenses are usually attached to the nosepiece. Its magnifying power is shown at the sides
Objectives
A short tube with open large lens and lower magnifying power
Low Power Objective
A long tube with a smaller opening and higher magnifying power
High Power Objective
The stable structure where the microscope firmly rests
Base
Refers to the upward extension of the base where the arm is attached
Pillar
The curved handle of the microscope that connects the base and body tube
Arm
A movable hinge that is used for tilting or inclining the microscope when necessary
Inclination joint
A platform that allows light from below to pass through the specimen
