3rd Flight Pattern Differences Flashcards
What is the only difference in preflight scan flow for the 3rd sequence?
Put the map light beam on the Aileron index on the control column
What is the initial pitch target OEI
Base of the attitude box on top of the 10° line
At 400’ what does the PF say
“Heading Select, identify problem”
After engine failure confirmed what does the PF say?
“Set squawk 7700, declare an emergency, advise ATC maintaining runway heading, climbing 3000”
At 1000’ what does the PF say and do?
“Vertical speed plus 300”, slowly lower the nose just below the 7.5° line and then start following the flight director.
What is the ‘Engine Out Acceleration Zone’?
Between 5° - 7.5°
At 175kts what does the PF say and do?
“-Speed checked, Flaps 1 - Flight level change, set speed 195kts, - Max Continuous Thrust” Follow the pitch bar. When the aircraft is in trim and flying away accurately PF says “Centre Command”, read the FMA
Once the autopilot is engaged what does the PF say and do?
Look at EICAS, “Left/Right engine failure confirmed”, “emergency has been declared” or do it now. Call for “Engine Failure and shutdown checklist, I have ATC”, after checklist complete “check EICAS”, reply with “roger, cancel EICAS”
At 2800’ with the AP engaged the pitch will start to lower to level at 3000’. What thrust do you set to maintain what speed?
Reduce thrust slowly toward 80% to maintain 200KIAS.
At ALT HOLD trim in the direction of the live engine for a count of 6 seconds then maintain remaining balance with a small amount of rudder pressure.
“After takeoff checklist”
When the after takeoff checklist is complete what does the PF say?
“-Advise ATC left/right engine shutdown
- require turn downwind
- request weather and approach in use
- standby intentions”
Clear turn, turn onto downwind “heading xxx” and increase thrust to 83% or you will get slow.
What do you say after commencing downwind turn?
“left/right engine shutdown, all other systems operating normally, weather suitable for return to Shimojishima, my intention is to return for one engine ILS approach Rwy 17, do you agree?” ….
“Advise ATC we require radar vectors for ILS approach runway 17” ….
“Set your side for ILS engine out approach RWY 17”
Approach briefing?
- Weather suitable for ILS approach
- Flap 20
- Vref 144, 175,215
- Autobrake 4
- Brief ILS briefing strip
- In the event of a missed approach I will call Go around, flap 5 and I will set go around thrust. You will say positive, I will say gear up and contact ATC and then read missed approach tracking
- Rudder trim will remain in for landing and after landing no reverse left/right.
- Any questions?
When cleared to 2000’ what RoD do you target?
500fpm and whenever we go down we slow down so “speed checks, flap 5”, set 175kts and say “speed set 175kts”
Set 60%N1, let speed bleed back to 185 then set 81%N1
On base at 1600’ what do you do with thrust and speed?
Leave thrust at 81%, you will lose 5 knots with each turn so in theory you will turn to arrive on final at speed 175kts. Don’t touch thrust unless below 175kts.
What do you do and say with the Glide slope alive call?
Set 70%N1 straight away, “Gear down, Flap 20, set speed, arm speed brake”
Maintain 1600’ with 70%N1.
Capturing glideslope release back pressure to follow the FD.
