VOR approach briefing?
A
- Weather suitable for VOR approach
- Flap 30, Vref 135, 175, 215
- Autobrake 2
- Brief VOR approach plate briefing strip
- Fly over high station, outbound 338, not below 1600 until intercepting 174 inbound, then descend MDA 500’
- In the event of a missed approach I will call “Go Around, Flaps 20” and I will set go around thrust. You will say “positive” I will say “gear up” and then brief the missed approach tracking from the approach plate.

On the VOR Approach we get “ALT HOLD” 3 times. What do you need to do when this happens?
A
Preset the next altitude on the MCP

At high station we…
A
- Time
- Turn (align HDG bug)
- Talk (contact ATC, “high station”)
PF says “high station, time, contact ATC”

10 seconds after high station what do you say and do?
A
- “Outbound tracking checked”
- Point at RMI and Map display and say “raw data and Map check, continue in LNAV”
- Point at altitude selector and say “cleared to 1600, vertical speed minus 500.

After pre-setting 500’ after ALT CAPT at 1600’ what do you set on the MCP?
A
Say “Pre-setting intercept heading 120” and select it, say to PM “monitor the tracking on RMI” when ready select expanded scale your side.

At 10.8nm from SJE the aircraft will start to turn. If it does not engage HDG SEL. Then what do you say?
A
“Gear Down, speed check, flap 20, setting 155 knots, arm speed brake”
As gear is coming down say “report ATC”
