Their infinitives end in ‘-ere’
e.g. concedere - to concede

A
  • remove the -ere from the infinitive to form a stem.
    e. g concedere (to concede); stem = conced
  • add the appropriate ending for the person.
    e. g. for the 1st person singular (I), add -O; concedo (I concede)
