edges
Lines along which two planes or pieces of material meet.
outlines
The distinction between the outer contours of a pieces and its surroundings.
value
Relative lightness and darkness.
implied lines
Lines that are not physically present in a work but can nevertheless be subtly perceived.
eye lines
The illusionary line between a figure’s eyes and something at which it appears to be looking.
directional line
A line that seems to guide the viewer’s eye along a particular visual path.
