What is a Chondrosarcoma?
Composed of cells derived from transformed cells that produce cartilage. Can be primary or malignant degeneration (enchondroma, osteochondroma)
MC age range for Chondrosarcoma?
40-60
MC in males or females?
Males
When do pain and swelling occur?
Often very late
Duration of symptoms?
2-5 years
Location of occurrence?
Any bone preformed in cartilage…basically our entire skeleton, EXCEPT for our cranial vault.
Chondrosarcoma is the MC primary malignancy of what bones?
Hand, Sternum, and Scapula
Plain Film Findings?
- Large, lytic, poorly defined
- Calcification in 2/3rds
- Popcorn, stippled, arcs and rings - More calcification = less aggressive
- Endosteal scalloping
What is a Clear Cell Chondrosarcoma (CCC)?
Round, sharply marginated lytic lesion in the epiphysis
Will a clear cell Chondrosarcoma have sclerosis or calcifications?

Chondroblastoma
Progression of CCC is usually ___?
Usually slow
