3.6 - Engine Emergencies Flashcards
PROPELLER - LOW PITCH
Indication: CAS warning - “Propeller Low Pitch”
Propeller pitch is less than 6 degrees (minimum pitch in flight) and the aircraft is not on the ground
- PCL - Ensure forward of idle detent
if it is not possible to maintain speed and height
- CONDITION LEVER - CUT-OFF/FEATHER
- Aircraft - Emergency Descente and Landing Procedures
ENGINE NP
Indication: CAS warning or caution - “ENGINE NP”
ON GROUND
- NP - check NP RPM indication
if propeller RPM is below 930
- PCL - Retard aft of idle detent or increse power until NP is above 950 rpm
if proppeller RPM is above 1760
- PCL - Reduce power
IN FLIGHT
- NP - Check NP RPM indication
if propeller RPM is below 1640
- PCL - increase power
- Aircraft speed - increase
If proppeller RPM is above 1760
- PCL - Reduce power
- Aircraft Speed - Reduce
If NP remains between 1760 and 1870 RPM
- Aircraft - Continue flight, at low speed, using minimum possible power.
If NP is above 1870 RPM
- PCL - Reduce power (idle if necessary)
- Aircraft speed - Reduce to 120 kias or below
- Land as soon as possbile, using minimum power, Retaining glide capability, to in case total propeller failure.
ENGINE NG
Indication: CAS warning or caution - ENGINE NG
- NG - Check NG % indication
if NG is above 103.5%
- PCL - Reduce Power
If NG is above 104%
- PCL - Reduce power
- Aircraft speed - Reduce to 120 KIAS or below
- Land as soon as possible, using minimum power, retaining glide capability.
if NG is below 60%
- PCL - Increase power
- Aircraft speed - increase
if engine does not respond to PCL inputs
Carry out engine failure in flight - partial loss procedure
ENGINE TORQUE
Indication: CAS warning or caution - ENGINE TORQUE
- TORQUE - Check indication
if torque above 44.3 psi
- PCL - Reduce Power
if torque CAS warning or caution remains
land as soon as possible, retaining glide capabilty
ENGINE ITT
Indication: warning or caution - ENGINE ITT
- Check ITT indications
if is above 850
- Reduce power
if caution or warning remains
Land as soon as possible retaining glide capability.
ENGINE OIL PRESSURE
Indication: Warning or caution - Engine Oil Press
- Check OIL P PSI
if oil pressure warning/caution is confirmed
- NG - Check above 72%
- Torque - Reduce to below 24 PSI
if oil pressure warning/caution reamains
- Landing as soon as possible, using minimum power, retaining glide capability.
ENGINE OIL TEMPERATURE
Indication: warning/caution - ENGINE OIL TEMP
ON GROUND
- check OIL T Cº indication
if oil temp is high
- Aircraft - Position into wind
- CONDITION LEVER - Flight Idle
- PCL - Increase power
if oil tem does not return to normal
- ELECTRICAL HEAT/COOL Switch - Inhibit
IN FLIGHT
- Check OIL T C º Indication
if oil temp is high
- PCL - Reduce power
if oil temp does not returno to normal
- Landing Gear - Extend
if Engine oil temp warning/caution remains
- Land as soon as practical
- maintenance required
ENGINE STARTER ENGAGED
Indication: Warning - Starter Engaged
ON GROUND
- CONDITION LEVER - CUT-OFF/FEATHER
- START INTERRUPT - Push
- BAT 1 and 2 - OFF
- EXT PWR - OFF
- Maintenance action required
ENGINE OIL CHIP
Indication: CAUTION - Oil chip
- Check and monitor engine parameter
- PCL - Reduce to minimum required for safe flight
- Land as soon as pratical
after landing maintenace required
