- Chlorophyll absorbs light energy
- This excites electrons (leading to photoionisation)
- Photolysis of water > 1/2 O2, 2H+, 2e-
- H+ converts NADP> NADPH
- e- passed along EC proteins
- o used in r/ leaves a waste
- Chemiosmosis=
- e- move along series of p embedded in T membrane, releasing energy
- energy used to AT protons across chloroplast membrane
- Electrochemical gradient created
- Protons move through ATP synthase, resulting in ATP production
- NADP reduced by e- & H+ > NADPH
