–> Choice drug for pneumonia, intra-abdominal infections, B. anthracis
–> Binds to Calcium, iron, magnesium, aluminum
–> Avoid during pregnancy d/t potential effect on cartilage development + can cause tendinopathies
What are tendinopathies?
Injury + rupture of tendons
What kind of bacteria is metronidazole used to treat?
What are some adverse effects?
Treats Gram- anaerobic bacteria
–> Intra-abdominal infections, trichomoniasis, bacteria vaginosis, aquatic protozoa, giardiasis (bever fever)
Adverse Effects
–> Metallic taste
–>Vertigo
–> Disulfiram effect
