what are NICs?
network interface cards that give devices internet connectivity
what MAC address varieties are there and how do they become associated with devices?
UAAs (set by manufacturers at their factories) and LAAs (can be changed to by organizations when they want it to evade MAC address blacklists and other network restrictions)
what can IP addresses be to a device?
they can be either static (never changing to allow for higher traceability as well as faster internet speeds but also potentially making maintenance costs overshoot one’s budget) and dynamic (changing with every single connection to allow for greater privacy but also potentially unreliable with VoIP services like Discord and Skype)
how do routers help send data across networks?
they allow data packet routing on the internet by converting data into an understandable format for other networks and inspecting packets of them before sending them to a switch appropriate for the ultimate recipient device’s MAC address
