3.3 Flashcards
What is a trophic level
it is a stage in a food web that describes what the animal eats. producer, primary, secondary and so on
what is a producer
it is the first level of the food web that the primary level feeds off of
is the primary trophic level
it is what eats the producers and is eaten by the secondary level
what are above the primary layer
anything that eats one or more of the levels previous
what is a autotroph
it is a producer that makes and eats its own food from the sun
what is a heterotroph
it is an organism that cant make its own food and must get it from some other source
what is a detrivore
something that eats dead organisms
what is an omnivore
something that eats meat and herbs
what is a herbivore
something that eats only plants
what is a carnivore
something that eats only meat
what is a keystone species
a species that may be the top predator but usually just helps out and keeps the population under control, it helps the biodiversity
what is an invasive species
it hurts the biodiversity
what does a trophic cascades show
it shows the direct and indirect effects of the animals to others in the ecosystem
what is the difference between direct and indirect effects
indirect is one species that eats or gets eaten that effects the growth of another organism further down the food chain
what symbolizes positive, negative, direct, and indirect effects
positive = +, negative = -, indirect =- - - line, direct =— line.
