2
Q

what is population and why is that important

A

it is the number of individuals per given area. It is important because that is how we can estimate or know the amount of individuals in a smaller section of an area

Q

how do you define clumped

A

clumped resources, a lot of social interaction, and all in a group and not spread out

Q

how can you use quadrants with random sampling and how do you calculate with random sampling

A

you take the number of individuals in any given quadrants and add them up. you take that number and divide by the number of quadrants you sampled. then you set the equal to your x variable over the total area that you are sampling from. you can then multiply that original answer and multiply it times the total area to get the equal ratio to the first one. the number of organisms over the area of sample equals the total number of organisms over the total area.

Q

how do you calculate using mark and recapture

A

you mark several of the individuals and release them back into the wilderness. then you take some more samples later. you take the total number that you marked over the total number of organisms equals the total recaptured that were marked over the total number that you recaptured
